Help topics

How do I set up my first account?
When you first open MiSpend, pick a name and a currency for your first account — a card, cash or a bank account. You can add more accounts later, each in its own currency.
How do I add an entry?
Tap +. The keypad comes first and does sums like 12.50 + 3. Your last account and today's date are filled in; pick a category and save. Made a mistake? Undo is one tap.
What is Safe to spend?
It's what you have in your accounts, minus bills due before your next payday, what's left in your budgets and what your goals need this month. Daily pace splits it across the days left.
How do I back up?
Go to Settings → Your data → Backup. You get one file with everything, photos included. Keep it somewhere safe: the backup file isn't encrypted.
How do I restore on a new phone?
Install MiSpend on the new phone, then go to Settings → Your data → Choose a backup and pick your backup file. You'll see what it adds before anything changes.
What do Merge and Replace do?
Merge adds what's in the backup and skips what you already have. Replace swaps your current data for the backup's — MiSpend saves a backup of your current data first, so nothing is lost.
How does the Excel export work?
In Settings → Your data → Excel report, pick a month or a trip and see a preview. Exporting comes after a short video, unless you own Remove ads.
What does "Attachment not on this device" mean?
The entry has a photo that wasn't in the backup you restored. Restore a newer backup made on the phone that has the photo.
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Settings → Purchases → Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. You'll need a connection.
Does Remove ads work on my other devices?
Yes, on any device signed in with the same Apple ID. Tap Settings → Purchases → Restore purchases there.
Can I share Remove ads with my family?
No — Family Sharing isn't available for Remove ads.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases go through the App Store, so refunds do too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
Go to Settings → Purchases and open your ad privacy choices. Ads never use anything you've entered in MiSpend.
Why does MiSpend ask about tracking?
The ads come from Google, which asks iOS for tracking permission so ads can be personalized. Saying no is fine; you'll still see ads, just less personalized. You can change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Why didn't an ad show?
Ads need a connection, and MiSpend caps how often they appear. If the Excel export's video doesn't load, try again when you're online.
How do I turn on Face ID or Touch ID?
Turn on Settings → Require unlock. MiSpend uses your device's Face ID, Touch ID or passcode, and hides your figures in the app switcher.
I forgot my passcode.
MiSpend uses your device's own passcode — the one you use to unlock your phone — so there's no separate MiSpend passcode to forget.
When do exchange rates update?
Every time you open the app with a connection. Offline, MiSpend uses the last rates it saved. Each entry keeps the rate it was saved with. You can turn refreshing off in Settings → Exchange rates.
Can I set my own rate?
Yes. When adding or editing an entry in another currency, switch its rate to manual and type the rate from your bank statement. A refresh never overwrites it.
Can I change my display currency?
Yes, in Settings → Display currency. Every entry's total is recalculated into the new currency at today's rates, so budgets and trends move together; MiSpend asks first.
